Bluesfest

Went to Ottawa Bluesfest last evening to see Ms Ani DiFranco. As always, her show was profusely energizing. Several of my favorites were played, including Napoleon & Coming Up. During the latter, one word was changed to reflect being in a different country…

but I love this city
this province [vs. state]
this country is too large
and who’s ever in charge up there
had better put more than change in our cup

Ani has married and divorced a Canadian man from London, Ontario, Andrew Gilchrist. He was for a long time her soundman while touring. When once they were in the States, they stopped into a gas station and quizzed a man on Canadian geography. He was asked what the capital of Canada was. “That’s stupid- Canada doesn’t have a capital!”
